Jean's Cafe - Starkville MS

Mama Jean with some customers.
This is a difficult place to locate.  It is tucked away in the midst of several buildings.  When you find it, you need to establish one singular idea in your mind: you WILL order the cheese wontons.  You will do this because (1) they are very good, and (2) Mama Jean will hound you until you crawl under one of the tables, naked and cold, and break like a little girl into tears.  Save yourself and everyone else in this tiny establishment the trouble and just budget an extra $5.00 into the dining experience.  'Mama' Jean is a pistol.  I mean I really like her.  Some people won't. She takes the term extrovert and obliterates it. Jean knows no strangers, and knows no fear.  This place would not be what it is without her.  But remember she is a master salesperson.  She will have you buying a $20.00 of lunch if you are not careful.  She will suggest add-ons, off the menu 'specials', and will even ask if you want another order of cheese wontons.  You thought one order would meet her quota, but you were wrong.  Fortunately, the quality is excellent no matter what you order, and no matter how weak/strong your willpower is to say no to her, she will send you off with a sincere smile and a full belly.
